Cummins reportedly to relocate production from UK to Romania after Brexit

Global engine and generators manufacturer Cummins plans to relocate production from the UK to Craiova, in southwest Romania, after Brexit, Craiova mayor told lupamea.ro.

Cummins already has a plant in Craiova where it produces power generators. The plant, which employs 570 people in a county with one of the highest unemployment rate in the country, posted a profit of RON39mn (€8.5mn)last year.

Craiova mayor Mihail Genoiu told the news portal that the management of Cummins Generator Technologies Romania is currently in Great Britain to discuss the relocation of the holding’s plants there to Craiova.

“We received official information from Cummins that the relation of the factories from Great Britain to Craiova has been approved. After Brexit, all Cummings’ assets in Great Britain will be relocated to Craiova,” Genoia said.

Cummins Generator Technologies was set up in 1999. In 2013, Cummins invested €12mn to expand its production capacities in Craiova,

US-based Cummins serves customers through a network of 600 company-owned and independent distributor facilities and more than 7,400 dealer locations in more than 190 countries and territories. It is organised in four business segments handling engines, power systems, components and distribution.
