Croatias industrial producer price index (PPI) increased by 5.5% on the year in January after rising by an annual 5.2% in December, the statistics office said in a statement. Prices in the manufacturing industry grew 5.1% on the year in January after climbing an annual 4.7% in the previous month. Mining and quarrying prices moved up a yearly 23.6% in January after rising by 23.5% on the year in the previous month. The acceleration in the above two segments, however, was compensated by lower growth of water supply and sewerage, which jumped an annual 8.7% after increasing 9.6% on the year in December. Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply prices advanced 0.9% year-on-year in January following an annual increase of 1% a month earlier. In the main industrial groups' breakdown, energy prices registered the highest annual increase in January, of 14.3%, followed by non-durable consumer goods, which climbed 4.1%, durable consumer goods (3.1%) and intermediate goods (2.5% y/y). Deflation was observed only in the segment of capital goods, where prices fell by 0.4%. In monthly terms, the PPI rose by 1% in January after dropping by 0.1% in December. Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 0.9% on the month, while for the non-domestic market they went down by a monthly 1%.
