Croatias foreign tourist arrivals up 6.5% y/y in Nov 2012.

The number of foreign tourists visiting Croatia increased 6.5% on the year to 111,431 in November following an annual rise of 8.7% in the previous month, the statistics office said. The number of domestic tourists, however, went down by an annual 3.5% to 83,772 in November, and thus the total number of tourists for the month went up 1.9% on the year to 195,203. The number of foreign tourist overnights stepped up by 7% on the year to 281,625 in November after increasing 11.2% on the year in October. The highest number of overnights was spent by visitors from Germany (15.7%), Austria (13.7%) and Italy (12.5%). The number of domestic tourist overnights dropped by 5.5% on the year to 182,422 in November following a yearly decline of 3.4% in October. In aggregate terms, the number of tourists increased by 3.4% on the year to 11.7mn in the first eleven months of 2012, while the number of their overnights went up by an annual 4% to 62.4mn. The number of foreign tourists was up by 4.5% on the year to 10.28mn, while the number of their overnights increased by a yearly 5.1% to 57.3mn in Jan-Nov 2012. The highest number of overnights was spent by tourists from Germany (24.3%), Slovenia (10.8%) and Austria (8.9%). The number of domestic tourists dropped 3.9% on the year to 1.4mn and the overnights went down 6.8% on the year to 5.07mn in Jan-Nov. Tourism minister Veljko Ostojic said earlier that he expects Croatias tourism revenue to rise 3-5% this year to EUR 7bn. Croatias tourism revenue rose 3.3% to EUR 6.3bn in the first nine months of 2012. Tourism accounted for 18.9% of the nine-month GDP, up 1pps on the year.
