Croatias foreign tourist arrivals up 3.4% y/y in Nov.

The number of foreign tourists visiting Croatia increased by 3.4% on the year to 104,662 in November after surging by an annual 13.7% in the previous month, the statistics office said. The number of domestic tourists inched up by an annual 2.7% to 86,829 in November, and thus the total number of tourists for the month rose 3.1% on the year to 191,491, the office said in a statement. The number of foreign tourist overnights stepped up by 4.7% on the year to 263,173 in November after an annual 12.7% rise in October. The highest number of overnights was spent by visitors from Germany (16.5%), Slovenia (10.5%) and Austria (9.8%). The number of domestic tourist overnights rose by 8.1% on the year to 193,109 in November, following an increase of 5.2% on the year in October. In aggregate terms, the number of tourist arrivals in Croatia increased by 8.1% on the year to 11.3 million in the first eleven months of 2011, while the number of overnights went up by an annual 7% to 60 million. The number of foreign tourists was up by 9% on the year to 9.8 million for the period and their overnights jumped by a yearly 7.4% 54.6 million. The highest number of overnights was spent by tourists from Germany (22.8%), Slovenia (11.7%) and Italy (9.1%). The number of domestic tourists increased by 2.3% on the year to 1.46mn in January-November, while their overnights rose by 3.3% to 5.45 million.
