Croatia's producer price index rose by 5.4% on the year in March, easing from an annual 5.8% increase a month earlier, the statistics office said. The slower growth was due to lower rises of prices in the manufacturing sector. Manufacturing prices advanced 4.2% on the year in March following a 4.6% hike in February. Prices in the mining and quarrying industry moved up 39.2% on the year after rising by the same rate in the previous month. The prices in electricity, gas steam and air conditioning supply rose by 1.1% on the year versus a 1.1% annual increase a month ago, while in water supply and sewerage they went up by an annual 8.7% in March after an annual 8.4% increase in the previous month. In the main industrial groups' breakdown, energy registered the highest increase of 16.5% on the year, followed by non-durable consumer goods, which rose by 3.5% and intermediate goods, which stepped up by 1.1%. Deflation was observed only in capital goods, whose prices fell by 0.5% year-on-year. In monthly terms, the PPI rose by 0.7% in March after a 1.8% monthly increase in February. Industrial producer prices for the domestic market inched up by 0.6% on the month, while for the non-domestic market they went up by 0.9% month-on-month.
