Croatia’s average net monthly salary down 0.3% m/m in June

Croatia’s average net monthly wage inched down by 0.3% m/m in nominal terms from HRK6,025 in May to HRK6,005 (€810.9) in June, data from the country's statistics office showed on August 22.

In annual terms, the average net wage in Croatia went up 5.6% in June, slowing down from an annual hike of 5.9% in the previous month.

Croatian salaries have been on an upward trend since bottoming out at HRK5,594 in July 2016, supported by changes in personal income taxation legislation, a move which increased consumption.

The average gross wage in June fell to HRK8,082 from HRK8,104 in May.

Wages in the capital Zagreb exceed the national average. The average net pay in May was HRK6,977, 1.4% up on the month, Total Croatia News reported on August 21 quoting data from the City Office for the Strategic Planning and Development of the City of Zagreb. The gross average wage amounted to HRK9,735 and was 1.4% higher than in April.
