By bne IntelliNews November 8, 2010
Croatia's new car sales declined by 16.8% y/y to 31,982 in Jan-Oct, market research agency Promocija Plus announced. The most popular brand was Opel with 4,025 sold cars in Jan-Oct, corresponding to a 12.6% market share. Next ranked Volkswagen with 3,553 (11.1%) and Renault with 2,694 cars (8.4%). The best selling cars were Opel Astra (1,944 cars), Volkswagen Polo (1,529) and Opel Corsa (1,247). The observed contraction of new car sales resulted from the global financial crisis, which discouraged the purchase of durable goods. In October, the new car sales fell, too, by 12.1% y/y to 2,913. The most popular brand was Renault with a market share 10.4%, followed by Opel (9.3%) and Volkswagen (8.6%).
