Chinese Development Bank is providing USD 1.8bn 15-year credit for construction of a gas pipeline from Beynau to Chimkent, KazTransGas has informed. The relevant agreement was signed in Kong-Kong. The credit is provided to JV Beynau-Shymkent Gas Pipeline which is owned on parity basis by KazMunayGas and CNPC. The project assumes construction of 1,475 km long pipeline which will allow for gas supplies to southern part of the country. The project is divided into 2 sections. The first section of a pipeline from Beynau to Bozoy is expected to be finished in October next year. This pipeline will connect all trunk gas pipelines in Kazakhstan. The pipeline has a great significance for Kazakhstan as it would diminish its dependence on Uzbek gas deliveries to the southern regions.
