Business sentiment in Bulgaria remains flat m/m in Dec 2011.

The composite business sentiment indicator remained unchanged in monthly terms at 16.13 in December, the monthly survey of the national statistics institute shows. The annual increase also remained unchanged at 1.5pps. The indicator worsened in the construction sector only, improved in the industrial and the services sectors and remained flat in the retail trade. The industrial and the construction managers plan staff cuts in the next three months. The industrial managers show inflationary expectations in the next months while the companies from the retail and the services business see opportunities for prices reduction. All sectors see the uncertain economic environment as main impediment to their business. Most of the surveyed sectors, however, began encountering financial difficulties as wells.
