Bulgaria to negotiate on 5% drop in Russian gas prices.

By bne IntelliNews November 10, 2010
Bulgaria hopes to achieve at least a 5% decrease in the price of Russian gas deliveries, economy minister Traicho Traikov said at a news event, according to Dnevnik daily. The new prices will be discussed during the forthcoming visit of Russian PM Vladimir Putin in Bulgaria, scheduled for November 13, which will focus on key energy projects, including the construction of the Belene nuclear plant, the South Stream natural gas pipeline and the gas supplies to the country. The gas prices have already been decreased by 5% in July for a fixed volume of gas. Previously, Traikov had wanted to negotiate lower gas prices with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, during the businessman's visit to Sofia on October 24, but afterwards it emerged that the topic was not discussed. In end-October, the gas company had said it does not plan to further decrease the supply prices for Bulgaria.
