Bulgaria's overall business climate indicator decreased 0.7 points m/m in June, after climbing 3.2 points m/m in May, statistics office data showed on June 28. The business climate deteriorated in industry and services, but improved in construction and retail trade.

The composite business climate indicators in industry declined 1.2 points m/m in June, reflecting lower expectations about the business situation over the next six months. The assessment of the present business situation was flat m/m in June.

In services, the indicator went down 3.7 points m/m, driven by significant deterioration of expectations. At the same time, the assessment of the present business situation slightly improved.

The composite business climate indicator in construction increased 2.2 points m/m in June, reflecting improvements of both the present assessment and the expectations.

In retail trade, the indicator rose 0.7 points m/m on the back of higher assessment of the present business situation. On the other hand, the expectations about the business situation over the next six months were slightly less favourable.

Bulgaria's industrial production increased 4.8% y/y in April, slowing down from a 6.5% y/y rise in March. Construction production went up 2% y/y, after climbing 5.3% y/y. The annual growth of retail sales (at constant prices) decelerated to 2.1% from 6%.
