Bulgaria's aluminium products manufacturer Alcomet opens EUR 15mn unit.

Local aluminium products manufacturer Alcomet opened a new production unit that will cut the company's energy costs by 30%, economy minister Delyan Dobrev announced. The EUR 15mn project has been financed under EU's competitiveness operational programme. It will help increase the producer's annual output by 45% and will open 36 new jobs. Alcomet is the largest supplier of household foil in the EU with a 20% market share, Dobrev said. In 2011, it received first class investment certificate for its EUR 13.7mn project to expand production. Alcomet is located in Bulgaria's northeastern town of Shumen and employs 730 people, according to information on the company's website.
