Bosnias Federation CPI inflation speeds up, PPI edges up in Oct.

Bosnias Federation annual consumer price inflation accelerated to 2.3% y/y in October 2012 from 2.1% y/y in September, data from the statistics office showed. The consumer price index (CPI) was 0.1% higher on the month in October after edging up 0.7% m/m in September. The sectors that recorded the biggest annual price growth in October were alcohol and tobacco (9.9% in Oct vs. 10% in Sep), transport (4.8% vs.5.5% in Sep) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (3.2% vs. 2.3% in Sep). Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices climbed 2.6% y/y in October after rising 2.4% y/y in September. The annual growth in the Federations industrial producer price index (PPI) slightly speeded up to 0.9% y/y in October from 0.8% a month earlier, the statistics office said in a separate statement. On a monthly basis, the PPI edged up 0.1%, following a 0.1% decline in September. In October, mining and quarrying prices rose by an annual 3% after climbing 4% a month earlier. Electricity, gas and water supply prices increased 2.4% on the year in October after climbing by the same pace in September. Manufacturing prices remained flat on the year edging down an annual 0.4% in September. The overall consumer price index inflation should remain moderate reflecting weak domestic demand. The Federations annual consumer price inflation slowed down to 2.9% at the end of 2011 from 3.1% at end-2010. The CPI saw a 3.6% average annual growth in 2011 versus 1.8% in 2010.
