Bosnia, EC sign EUR 92.3mn IPA agreement.

Bosnia and the European Commission signed an agreement on EUR 92.3mn (KM 180.5mn) funding under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) for 2010, Onasa newswire informed. The package consists of 16 projects. The agreement was signed by Nevenka Savic, the European Integrations Directorate head and coordinator for IPA, and Boris Iarochevitch, head of the European Commission's delegation to Bosnia. The 16 projects under the agreement are to be implemented in the next 3 to 4 years. Almost half of the funds, EUR 45.6mn, will be allocated for infrastructure projects in the next two years, Savic said. Some 34.6% of funds will be used for supporting projects aimed at helping the fulfilment of the political criteria for EU accession. These are projects supporting the fight against corruption, strengthening institutions, support for the police reform, as well as the public administration reform. Some EUR 8.3mn are intended for capacity building in order to ensure the normal functioning of the state upon the countrys membership in the EU. Some KM 6.5mn will be allocated for support programmes. The country is eligible to receive altogether EUR 488.2mn under IPA in the period from 2008 to 2012. IPA funds for 2010 amount to EUR 106mn, for 2011 EUR 108.1mn and for 2012 EUR 110.2mn.
