Avtovaz to build plant in Kazakhstan.

Avtovaz, the largest Russian automaker will build Lada assembly plant in Kazakhstan. The company already signed a memorandum of understanding on the project with Kazakh car maker Asia Auto and social entrepreneurship corporation Ertis. Total value of the project is USD 500mn. The facility will be located in the Eastern Kazakhstan region. Its capacity will be 120,000 cars per annum. Construction works will be launched next year and the first 90,000 car-per-year assembly line will be completed in 2015. The plant will assemble the Lada Granta and Lada 4x4, as well hatchbacks and class B crossovers on the Renault-Nissan platform. Significantly, Avtovaz takes advantage on newly formed Customs Union between AKzakhstan, Russia and Belarus. Due to lower taxes, Kazakhstan has chance to attract more foreign investors interested in the Custom Unions market.
