Austrias Wienerberger to build EUR 22mn brick plant in Romania.

By bne IntelliNews January 24, 2012
Austrian brick maker Wienerberger plans to build a EUR 22mn plant in the Iasi region in northeastern Romania, the company said on its website. The region offers a market with good growth potential and will contribute to the country-wide expansion of Wienerberger, which already has three factories in Romania, the statement said. The company entered the Romanian market in 1998 and has invested EUR 75mn since then, turning into a market leader in its segment. The local markets long-term growth prospects are strong as there is still need for new construction, the company said. The investor is currently obtaining building permits for the planned new factory after taking on lease 41 hectares in the Iasi county.
