Albanias broadband internet penetration rises in 2011.

The market penetration of broadband internet services in Albania, measured by the number of subscriptions per 100 people, increased to 6.2% in 2011 from 3.7% a year earlier, local news agency LajmeShqip reported, citing data from communications regulator AKEP. A total of 161,000 households and 13,000 businesses in Albania are registered as broadband internet users, including the fixed and mobile segments. Dominant landline operator Albtelecom is a current market leader with a 35% share on the broadband market, followed by ABCom (17%) and Vodafone Albania (15%).
