Albania awards EUR 40mn road construction contract to Italian Serenissima.

The Albanian ministry of public works and Italian company Serenissima signed on March 18 a contract for the construction of a 22-km bypass road in the southwestern city of Fier, the ministry said in a statement. Serenissima won the contract after submitting the lowest bid of EUR 40mn in a tender. The project will be financed by European Union, the EBRD and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The three institutions also agreed to fund the construction of a 29-km bypass road in Vlora as well. The tender procedures for the latter will be launched in Q2 2013.
